SAN DIEGO, CALIFORNIA – JULY, 2018

Medeem was selected for special display in the Map Gallery at Esri’s 2018 User conference. The presentation showcased the growing impact and economic empowerment that Medeem is making in the communities as well as in the individual lives of the thousands of people they serve in Zambia. Medeem’s core mission is to provide equitable access to land tenure security and the display highlights Medeem Zambia’s most recent innovations and successes toward that goal. Leveraging partnerships and local enterprise, Medeem Zambia has launched the Women’s Land Right’s Initiative with Zambia’s Ministry of Gender and is working with local government councils to regularize unplanned settlements to bring land tenure security to thousands of Zambian landholders. Medeem is also partnering with BirdWatch Zambia in collaboration with Darwin Initiative of the UK government to improve the biodiversity and fish population in the Lukanga Swamp, which will in turn, improve the local communities whose livelihoods depend on fishing its waters.
