LUANSHYA, ZAMBIA – OCOTBER, 2018  The Luanshya Municipal Council has approved a proposal to engage Medeem Zambia to start the process of upgrading informal settlements in the District. The upgrading of informal settlement areas is aimed at promoting local development and supplementing Government’s efforts aimed at empowering the underprivileged Zambians to own pieces of land. During the Full Council meeting, the local authority has approved a proposal to carry out the Mapping Project in five informal settlements to be used as a pilot during the upgrade. The identified areas are the Misaka, Fisenge, Twashuka, Buntungwa and Kamuchanga informal settlement areas.
